Council Bluffs Schools Athletic Complex

April 21, 2015

Building Pride

The teamwork, sportsmanship and camaraderie of athletics at Abraham Lincoln High School and Thomas Jefferson High School create a lively connection among alumni, friends, students and our entire community… and across generations. Spirit, pride – and a shared athletic complex – unite us.

Plans are underway to transform the current stadium and grounds at 19th and G Streets into the state-of-the-art Council Bluffs Athletic Complex. It will become the perfect environment in which our student-athletes can excel and a gathering space that will reflect community pride.

The new Council Bluffs Athletic Complex will include:

•     A turf football/soccer field surrounded by an eight-lane track for conference competition

•     A separate area for track and field events

•     Two realigned softball fields with new bleachers and a press box

•     Two additional soccer fields, creating a conference-ready soccer facility

•     Inviting entrances from Avenue G and 16th Street, leading to paved parking

•     Concession stands and restrooms designed to serve all fields

•     Locker rooms for home and away teams

Investing in TeamworkIt is an exciting time in Council Bluffs with a growing economy, a focus on healthy lifestyles, a dedication to our community’s youth, and continued development of critical infrastructure all around the city. This athletic complex will serve as a transformational anchor to the 16th Street corridor and, no doubt, will be a catalyst for further revitalization.
